Description:
In 1975, this piece was acquired from an agent (runner) of Sir Leon Trout in London, who often purchased works at local and large auction houses, many of which were subsequently exported to Australia.
Ethel Carrick completed her final voyage to France in 1951. Notably, there are two other documented works featuring flower markets from that year, which are included in the collections of the Chau Chak Wing Museum and the ANU Collection. I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to Susanna De Vries, the author of "Ethel Carrick Fox: Travels and Triumphs of a Post-Impressionist", for her invaluable assistance regarding these works by Ethel Carrick.
This work does not fluoresce under UV light; further research is currently ongoing.
