Description:
Dorrit Black is considered one of Australia’s most important modern artists and is widely represented in Australian galleries and institutions. She was a devotee of cubism after training with the Grovesnor School of Modern Art under Claude Flight and then with Andre Lhote and Albert Gleizes in Montparnasse Paris. She later returned to Sydney to open the Modern Art Centre. Dorrit primarily worked in watercolors early in her career, and this may have been painted possibly around 1928.
