Description:
This work was purchased from John McCullagh of Copperfield Galleries, along with the pastel portrait study, rolled up in a packing tube. He stated that these were by Hilda Rix.
Currently, there is little evidence to support that these works are by Hilda Rix, other than a diary entry by Elsie where she recalls Hilda painting in Venice, Rome, and Nice, along with "mother insisted on climbing to the dome of St. Peter's." If these works can be attributed to Hilda Rix, then they are indeed rare, as none are known to exist.
